ORU Scholarship Information

1) Four scholarships, of up to $2,500 each, will be awarded by the Operation Round-Up Board of Trustees. The scholarship winners will be selected and announced in late spring, prior to the beginning of the fall semester.

2) Of those four scholarships, two will be awarded to a special needs student (i.e., a recent high school graduate who has no way to pay for college, but sincerely wants to further his or her education). The other two scholarships will be restricted to third- or fourth-year college students.

ORU Scholarship Criteria

1) All students receiving ORU scholarship funds must be enrolled in a state-accredited community college or university in the state of Oklahoma.

2) Scholarship recipients must be full-time students of such a college or university, enrolled in 12 hours or more per semester.

3) Students receiving ORU scholarship funds must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 in their major area of concentration.

4) Scholarship recipients must be members of the Kiamichi Electric Cooperative, or live in the household of a KEC member.

5) Scholarship funding will be used only for college or university tuition costs and books.

6) ORU board members will select a field of six finalists to interview prior to the awarding of scholarships each spring. The six finalists will be judged on this criteria:

• Financial need

• Grade point average

• Leadership skills; and

• Participation in extra-curricular activities.

The three top finalists will receive scholarship funds.

7) If a student selected to receive an ORU scholarship is unable or unwilling to complete their education, the funds will be transferred to the next-ranking finalist.
